DA! Desktop Anime turns 8.




I feel so old.

And if you notice anything broken (besides the missing thumbnails for dual-screen walls, apparently I forgot to add those to the Photoshop ActionScript) let me know.

I went for the daylight version because the colors were easier to choose atm (bright blues is a much more limited palette than deep purple, deep blue, rose, orange and yellow).
The idea is that the skyline is a repeating background, and so are the power poles, but they'll repeat at different distances so it doesn't feel too repetitious.
Also, the birds really suck right now, I'll make a better version if you like this layout so far.
I find myself inordinately fond of right-hand side menus despite the fact that this is probably bad UI (English reads left to right) so if you want to switch that to the left, that's a-okay.

So I dropped the soap in the shower today. Not a big deal normally, but this was an almost new bar, and my shower is one of those bathtub+shower setups. I dropped it by the wall, and then watched in fascination as it slid down the tub and leaped up the other side. It would have made a half-pipe snowboarder proud.
Me, I was tempted to find the correlation between drop height and the height it would jump up the other side. Alas, I was in a hurry, so I could not start any tests.

Also, comments on DA! v8 mockup are appreciated. Ignore the text in the main frame, I haven't yet gotten around to designing the interior pages, and right now it's just the current main.html stuffed in there. Eventually I'll have a script to rotate the left navi image; I have one for each Bebop crew member. They'll cycle hourly, I think. While I like rotating images as they offer a bit of variety to a site's layout, I also don't like having to redownload a new header image every time I click somewhere, and there's not enough subsections in the planned revamp to use one character per section. An hourly or daily rotation solves that problem nicely.

Just what the subject implies.
