Convention planning

So, KKD, which con should I attend next year?
1) AOD
Pros
- San Francisco
- Small, intimate setting
- We run it, so we take good care of ourselves
Cons
- Short duration
- Not everyone staffs
- Timing (I will be in SF end of December, so to go back end of January is a bit much)
2) AX
Pros
- Long duration
- Everyone and their dog shows up
- Gong Show
Cons
- Los Angeles
- People tend to be more stressed out with staffing

Regardless, I'll get a hotel room and be an attendee, although I expect a comp badge from one of you folks.

AOD 2009

Another con come and gone. I really enjoyed being on Guest Relations staff this year - got to see a slightly different perspective of the con, and all the guests were awesome people. My favorite part of the con was on Sunday, when Johnny Yong Bosch was wrapping up the final autographing section - while waiting outside the room, he signed the poster on the wall that told people the events that were going on the room and remarked, "My work here is done." He also drew a happy face in the AOD logo.
Unfortunately, by the time Nat had returned to the hallway after we finished up events that night, hotel staff had removed the poster during their cleaning, so it was gone :(

Favorite quote from AOD

Me: [IM'ing Val at Karaoke tech desk from her Macbook] Hey there!
Val: Holy crap, how'd you do that?
Me: I are smart engineer!
Me: ...And I found your Bonjour program.

Vic Mignogna's pants...

...are at least not as bad as Ikuhara's.

Because at least it's hard to clash a shirt with jeans, no matter what crap is on them. Ikuhara, now, believes that red and green shiny satinness should marry and belt out zettai unmei mokushiroku at the top of their lungs to proclaim how wonderful they are together.

I'M SO SORRY I HAD TO LEAVE YOU MERCEDES. I REALLY WANTED TO BE THERE SO WE COULD CRY ON EACH OTHER'S SHOULDERS MAKE BITING COMMENTARY ON YELLOW PADS THAT WE COULD POST ON THE INTARWEB THAT WOULD GET US LYNCHED BY 3837598276983762389562 FANGIRLS

On an unrelated note, this is clearly a sign that I need to empty my spam folder out more often.

Weekends

Best conversation this weekend:
Magali: I'm raging against this muffin. It's like raging against the machine.
Me: Well, it'd be easier to rage against a muffin. You can tear it apart with your hands. Raging against the machine requires a hammer, and a wrench, and some heavy equipment.

Tommy: "I don't want to eat in a restaurant named after a website!"

BEST. PANEL. EVAR.

Mercedes is 6ft tall.

Ridiculously low clearance in the crappy parking garage.
